Clea - Privacy Policy

Clea ("we", "us", "the app") is built to be private by default. This policy explains what the app accesses and what it doesn't.

Camera

Used solely to read product barcodes. Camera frames are processed on your device to detect the barcode and are never stored, saved, or transmitted anywhere.

Barcodes & searches

When you scan or type a barcode, we send that barcode number to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) and, if it is not found there, to its sister databases Open Products Facts and Open Beauty Facts, and to USDA FoodData Central where enabled, to identify the product. If you use the Pro name search, your search text is sent to Open Food Facts. No personal information is attached to any of these requests.

Scan history

Products you scan are stored locally on your device only. Your history is not uploaded to us or anyone else, and you can clear it at any time from the History tab.

What we don't do

No account is required, and we don't collect your name, email, or contact details.

We don't show ads.

We don't sell, rent, or share your personal data.

We don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If this ever changes, this policy will be updated first.

Purchases (Pro)

Subscription payments are processed by Apple or Google, not by us; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate subscriptions: it receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and your purchase state, never your name or contact details.

Third-party services

Open Food Facts provides the product information behind each scan, under the Open Database License (ODbL). Barcode lookups are subject to their practices (see openfoodfacts.org); we send only the barcode number.

Children

Clea is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Clear your local scan history at any time in the app, or delete the app to remove all locally stored data.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
